🍀 Happy March! 🍀

It’s so nice to feel like the winter weather is coming to the end fairly soon.  [fingers crossed]

☃️ To feel the slightly warmer weather…

🌞   To see a few more sunshiny days…

🎒   To feel a bit less cooped up in the house.

🫧  To immerse myself in thoughts of planning my new gardens in our new yard we moved to in late October.

I’m excited to see what will be uncovered as the snow melts (because I really don’t know what’s here).  Perhaps there will be hyacinths, daffodils, and tulips that will surprise me?  I sure hope so – and if not, I’ll add some in the fall.

It’s a blank slate, which fills me with joy. 🌸

It reminds me of a time back when I was a single mom, I owned a little 2-story saltbox style home with a covered front porch that I loved.

It was built around 1917 and located on a large city lot on the highest street overlooking downtown Kalamazoo.  When my daughter was at her dad’s on “his” weekends, I remember driving home from work with excitement at the prospect of gardening non-stop from Friday evening until Sunday.

My Mountaineer was filled to the brim with mulch and plants and all sorts of gardening stuff.  I planted trees and created multiple flower gardens, decks, walking paths, and quiet seating areas over the years.

I loved the creativity, the physicality, the work, and getting my hands dirty – well, truth be told, I always wore gardening gloves 🤣

And I learned how to garden in the shade which I hadn’t experienced up until that home.

It was a healing respite for me from my divorce, my job, from studying for my Master’s, and from the whisperings of my inner critic.

Creative gardening was where I felt most alive.  It’s where I could reason and release disempowering thoughts that arose.  I felt aligned with my soul and my purpose.

And to my surprise and glee, the inner critic’s chatterings would subside for just awhile.

And those are the times the intuitive hits would drop in.

During my 16 years living there, I completely transformed that yard into a peaceful sanctuary and it became an inviting and happy place for me.

Now, the prospect of getting back to gardening many years later in this new city home fills me with anticipation and a giddiness.  It feels good to have this to look forward to.

How about you, what makes you feel giddy?
